In 1911, each group felt it was time for them to have their own building. The children of that community the Church and School moved into separate buildings. Mosier Lodge and St. John Church experience a great relationship for several years and continued to share the same acre of land. The bottom floor of the lodge building was then used by a Methodist Church. Under the leadership of Worshipful Master Andy Nelson (who served as Master for over 30 years), decided it was time for St. John Church and the Lodge to have a separate share of the land. On May 20, 1939 the one acre was partitioned and each group received one-half (1/2) acre of land. Several years past and the lodge began to lose members from death, world wars, job opportunities, families and other things. The lodge experienced a loss in membership. The loss resulted in just enough people being active enough to conduct some business. The members that did attend were getting older and it seemed as if no one had an interest of being a freemason.
In 1993, after the lodge had been deemed inactive, DDGM George M. Williams, Sr. was charged to take action regarding the dismantling of Mosier Lodge. For several years, Mosier had no representatives in attendance during the Grand Session. The lodge had not submitted its May reports and Grand Master Robert E. Connor, Jr. ordered it sold to the highest bidder. However, DDGM Williams knew of the history behind Mosier Lodge and was fund of a number of the community residents from his early childhood. He began the painstaking process of trying to re-activate the lodge and get it back into the blessings of the Grand Lodge.
In 1994, DDGM was successful in getting three new members initiated for their first degree in February of that year, Mr. Harold. L. Bynum, Mr. Joseph Showell and Mr. Benny Tucker. He was also instrumental in getting the past secretary, Bro. O.C. Winn, Sr. to act as the Worshipful Master. From that day forward Mosier Lodge has continued to progress. The name even took on a change of it’s on and the word Valley was added to give it more of a connection to the community. Today, after being charter for 110 years Mosier Valley Lodge and St. John Church still have a great working relationship. A new era Masters have assumed the East since Bro. O.C. Winn, Sr. stepped down from his post.
